It was an old-fashioned Texas Rangers Slugfest Tuesday in Cleveland
The Texas Rangers took it old school Tuesday afternoon, defeating the Cleveland Indians 11-9 in Cleveland. The win snapped a two-game losing streak, and improved Texas to 77-60 on the year.
Rangers rookie starter Tommy Hunter was merely mediocre, allowing five runs and eight hits over five-plus innings, but the decision went to Texas' insanely good relief pitcher Neftali Feliz. Feliz actually gave up a run --just the second run the pitcher has given up this season-- and earned his first career win in the process. Feliz is now 1-0 with a 0.76 ERA.
Several Ranger hitters had field days at the plate. Marlon Byrd went 4-for-4 with a three-run home run in the top of the seventh. Leadoff hitter Julio Borbon went 2-for-4 with a pair of home runs, three runs scored and a stolen base, while Ivan Rodriguez went 2-for-5 with a pair of crucial RBI doubles, including a two-run ground-rule double in the top of the ninth that ultimately provided the difference in the game.
