Irving artist wins international award for her mosaic art
Irving resident Julie Richey was awarded the International Award for Mosaic Fine Art for her sculptural work, Night Shirt. Richey will receive 1,000 euros and a trip to Venice, Italy to attend a one-week Master in Mosaic workshop at Orsoni. Her award-winning mosaic will also be exhibited at the Angelo Orsoni Gallery in Italy.
The jurors, Lucio Orsoni, honorary president; Angelo Orsoni; and Pino Bisazza, president, Trend Group; chose Night Shirt because of the artist's exceptional success in depicting an "atmospheric landscape of pure poetry that harmonizes with sculptural form of the clothing."
This year, 98 submissions were received from 15 countries. All submissions will be posted on the Orsoni website in October. The biennial prize will be offered again in 2011.

ConGrats! Julie Richey is a good time intellectual conversational goddess and a bonafide intelligent artist in the genuine sense of the word. I have the good fortune of having come to know her and let me tell you.... when you talk to Julie, you know what it is to levitate above a tranquil lagoon of serene vapors inhaling the fragrant aromas of ethereal serenity. Or something.
ConGrats!
