Hugh Jackman as Wolverine visits Dallas — sorta
Hugh Jackman Wax Figurine Slashes Through Dallas

DALLAS To the delight of many X-men fans, Wolverine came to Uptown Dallas for a three-hour appearance at the Blockbuster store at Lemmon and McKinney. Loved by action moviegoers across the U.S., Wolverine visited four spots in Dallas this week -- only this time, it wasn't Hugh Jackman himself; it was a wax figure that looked eerily like the real guy.
The Blockbuster location marked the 4th stop on the tour as it makes its trek across the U.S before it heads back to Los Angeles, California. An estimated 50 people stopped by to view the life size Wolverine. Spectators posed for and took photographs of the statue. Anna Chavez, for instance, had heard about the event through Channel 4 news and brought her son Christian to see the statue. "He looks so real!" Chavez said.
Neil Linssen, a sculptor/artist from Madame Tussauds (the famous wax figure tourist attraction), explained to visitors about the life-size figure: "The head is composed of wax but the body is fiberglass,” Linssen said.
He encouraged people to touch and interact with the sculpture. Many were amazed just how real it looked.
Linssen took painstaking trouble to fashion the wax figure precisely as Hugh Jackman looks. They report that about 250 measurements and 180 photos are taken of the real Hugh, which are then used to construct his alter ego. (And look at those biceps; those were sculpted precisely to match Hugh's bulging guns.) The artist says the head took more than 6 weeks to make to give the sculpture the dashing good looks that Hugh really has.
Hugh Jackman says (we're told): “I'm thrilled for Wolverine that he's getting immortalized.”
