Oakland A’s 9, Texas Rangers 0

— The Texas Rangers once again had nothing in the tank Monday night, losing 9-0 to the Oakland A's at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. The loss was the second straight for Texas, which fell to 80-63 on the season.

For the second straight game, the Rangers decided to mail it in.

For the second straight game, the Rangers decided to mail it in.

With the LA Angels losing, the Rangers are still six games behind in the AL West, but fell to four and a half games behind the Boston Red Sox in the wild card race. Texas still has 19 games left in the season to make up for lost ground.

Rangers starter and possible Cy Young candidate Scott Feldman came crashing back to earth, surrendering six runs on six hits in six-plus innings. Feldman, who had his seven-game win streak snapped, fell to 16-5 with a 3.65 ERA.

For the second straight night, the Rangers were shut out at home, barely mustering even the most minimal effort at the plate. As a team, Texas amassed just five hits, four of which were harmless singles, and did not manage to draw a single walk. Rookie phenom Elvis Andrus was the lone bright spot in the lineup, as his 1-for-4 night meant a continuation of his 16-game hitting streak, a Rangers rookie record.
