Oakland A’s 4, Texas Rangers 0
ARLINGTON The Texas Rangers continued their streak of pathetic efforts Wednesday night with another shutout loss, a 4-0 embarassment to the Oakland A's at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. The loss was the fourth straight for Texas, which fell to 80-65.

With another crappy effort, the Rangers' playoff hopes are beginning to fade away
The loss was also the third shutout in those four losses, with the team managing just a single run against allegedly inferior opponents. With the loss, the Rangers fell to 6 1/2 games behind the Boston Red Sox for the wild card, and remained six games behind the LA Angels for first place in the AL West.
The latest mediocre pitcher to look like a Cy Young winner against the Rangers was Trevor Cahill, who allowed just one single and a pair of walks over seven shutout innings. Rangers starter Dustin Nippert was not nearly as coldly efficient, surrendering four runs on five hits over five-plus innings. Nippert fell to 5-3 with a 4.16 ERA.
Only Marlon Byrd prevented the game from becoming an ignominious no-hitter, with a harmless single. Ian Kinsler added a pair of walks to represent the other Ranger that managed enough effort to get on base.
