The Rangers lineup has already reserved its October tee times
ARLINGTON The Texas Rangers limped out of the playoff picture Sunday afternoon, losing 10-5 to the LA Angels at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. The loss wrapped up a 2-9 homestand, during which Texas was shut out four times, and dropped the team to 81-67.
The loss also ensured --barring some sort of epic Mets-esque collapse-- that Texas will miss the postseason once again. The Rangers are now 7 1/2 games behind the Angels for first place in the AL West, and eight games behind the Boston Red Sox for the wild card. Texas has just 14 games remaining.
Rangers rookie starter Derek Holland was again ineffective, surrendering six runs on eight hits over five-plus innings. Holland, who walked one and struck out five, dropped his fifth straight loss and fell to 7-12 on the season with a 6.17 ERA.
