World waits with bated breath as Cowboys prepare for regular-season debut of new stadium, man’s greatest achievement since the Egyptian Pyramids

— I ran into a frustrating obstacle in doing today's "Outbursts" duty. For the uninitiated, Outbursts is a section where we (and you) highlight the best and most interesting local stuff on other sites. The mediati call it aggregation; disenfranchised Journalists call it stealing; and we call it curation. One of the things we try to do in that curation is to provide a lot of variety, something that I found very difficult to do this morning as all anyone is talking about is The Cowboys First Home Game in Their New Stadium.

So, giving in to the hype, here's a roundup of coverage on the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium and today's game versus the Giants of New York.

Last night there was a big gala party at the stadium to celebrate, um, The Stadium. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram was there, as was NBCDFW:

The DMN waxes rhapsodic about all the little details from locker countdown clocks to the turf.

Not everyone's a fan, though: The New York Times rang in with a scathing review of the new facility, which of course has led to some rebuttal and brouhaha. (Don't those fools realize that their architectural critique will surely be taped under the countdown clock on the lockers of the secondary, inspiring a superhuman effort against their Giants?)

Even though the world (but not Texas) is in a recession, America's Team and its building are able to find sponsors.

Tonight's game is likely to set an NFL attendance record, a feat of decades of marketing as much as of pouring concrete.

For those interested in the game itself, Coach Joe provides some context and preview:

And, lest we forget how we got here, one last look at Laura E.'s time-lapse of the Stadium construction.

Lots of pissed off people..they oversold and wouldn't let many with a Party Pass inside...probably sucked to get stuck for the parking and not even get into the game.

Getting in was no problem - took HOV lane straight in with no lines at all. Now, the 1 1/2 hours it took to get out of the stadium, that was friggin' ridiculous.

Oh, and the party pass thing was cool, but I don't think I'd do it again. We were able to get in and watch from the 2nd level where they had the cheerleader "b squad" and some marching snare drum guys doing cheers and stuff, which was kind of neat.

haha Travis, I guess I didn't see their "official" title...we were wondering what those platforms were for pre-game...tempted to climb up since we were right there. I imagine it would have been a good vantage point.

And yeah..the HOV lane from Dallas rocked! Just watch out for the Po-9 on the other side of the median radaring you and calling ahead to his colleague at the end of the lane..
