The Vintage Flying Museum in Fort Worth will be holding their 19th Annual Big Band Hangar Dance and silent auction on Saturday, Oct. 10. This constitutes their primary fundraising event of the year, with the money going toward their aviation preservation, education, and archiving efforts.

Advance dinner and dancing tickets are $45 in advance, or you can purchase a dance ticket only for $30 advance/$35 at the door. Reserve tables are available with the purchase of ten tickets, and corporate tables are also available.

Here's the coolest part: for an extra $35, you can buy a ride aboard a vintage DC-3 as it navigates the skies over Fort Worth (flights start at 5 p.m.). Call 817-624-1935 for additional information or to purchase tickets by phone - or order online here.

Here's the lowdown, from the press release:

Guests will enjoy the big band sounds of the Alan Glasscock 16- piece orchestra and a nostalgic evening of swing dancing in front of the B-17 Flying Fortress on display in an authentic WWII B-29 hangar. Dressing in 40’s attire or as your favorite aviator is optional but prizes will be awarded for the best dressed.

Attendees will be able to visit with the event's special guests, WWII veterans from the 95th Bomb Group reunion, and have the opportunity to meet Glenn McDuffie, the Kissing Sailor, the only forensically verified sailor of the now famous picture of the sailor and a nurse kissing in Times Square on V-J day.

Dinner will be served from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., with dancing from 8 'til midnight. The event is BYOB with soft drinks and snacks available for purchase.
