New York Giants 33, Dallas Cowboys 31
ARLINGTON The Dallas Cowboys choked away a win in front of the largest crowd ever to see an NFL game Sunday night, losing 33-31 to the New York Giants. The loss left Dallas at 1-1 on the young season, and was the first divisional game for the Cowboys.
The game was the home opener for the Cowboys' billion-dollar new stadium, and the announced crowd of 105,121 was treated to a game with eight lead changes, four turnovers and a last-second field goal to win it.
With a clock-eating drive in the fourth quarter, it appeared the Dallas Cowboys would win the game when Felix Jones scored on a 7 yard run with just 3:40 left. But the Giants were able to march nearly the length of the field in the final three and a half minutes, going 2-for-2 on third down and kicking the game-winning field goal as time expired.

By the third quarter Jessica Simpson had gotten 105,121 voicemails asking her to get back together with Romo
The much-maligned Dallas run defense was actually not that bad, stacking the box against massive Giants tailback Brandon Jacobs and limiting New York to just 97 yards rushing. However, daring Giants quarterback Eli Manning to beat them ultimately backfired, as the young QB threw for 330 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions.
The real story of the game, however, was Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, who threw three terrible interceptions that all resulted in Giant touchdowns. The Giants scored 24 points off turnovers, and only managed three field goals when they weren't being gifted by the Dallas offense.
Romo went 13-of-29 for just 127 yards, zero touchdowns and three interceptions in perhaps his worst statistical game as a pro. The Dallas running game, however, was surprisingly dominant, amassing 251 yards and an 8.7 yard-per-carry average against the alleged best defensive line in football. Marion Barber led the way with 124 yards on just 18 carries and one touchdown, while Felix Jones continued to impress by carrying the ball seven times for 96 yards. The 251 yards rushing were the most the Cowboys have put up since 1993.
Fortunately for Dallas, their next game is against the hapless Carolina Panthers on Monday Night Football. The Panthers are currently 0-2 and have shown tremendous generosity to opposing defenses.

I'm wondering why the cowboys didn't call any timeouts when the giants for sure were gong to make that game winning field goal.

Thank you ms. Toni Romo you made me smile by crushing the spirits of 105,000 people all by your little star effer self. Has anyone ever noticed that from the waste down ms. Toni could easily be mistaken for a girl? Just look at this body structure, he does have a feminine structure. Maybe Jessica Simpson was the beard for Toni and Bobby Carpenter?
So after battling traffic for Jerry World for the last year I have the payback pleasure of one thought. For the next several years this team is going now where. Why? Toni is talented physically but has nothing to offer mentally. His laissez faire attitude is not suited for the person who is leading the team. BTW it is not his fault, it is just not who he is. He always makes me smile when he leaves the game and immediately sits on the bench until the next series. I never saw Troy Aikman once sit on the bench. Small example but I think it highlights everything you need to know.
He can throw a beautiful spiral and score a s-load of points in Hollywood, but he is too loosey goosey mentally to carry this thing all the way. Jerry should have been able to see this but was blinded by wonder boy's looks and talent. So I will take this as my payment for being stuck in traffic because of your silly temple.

Our secondary sucks...Scandrick and several others missed key tackles...that mess has got to change. Make em run laps till they bleed from every orifice, or whatever it takes, but sloppy defense isn't what they get paid for...and needless to say, Tony Homo needs to get his head out of his a$$ and synch up with his receivers. Throw three interceptions and you pretty much guarantee the other team is gonna win. IMO there was a serious lack of communication on passing routes...smiley pretty boy was overthrowing and throwing behind receivers all day long. Way to make history, Cowboys...

I thought the secondary was pretty good. You are not going to completely shut down a team as good as the Giants, that's just not a reasonable expectation. Scandrick actually tackled very well for the most part, him and Jenkins made a number of solid open field tackles. A cornerback is going to miss a tackle every once in a while, that just happens with a 180 pound guy.
Romo was on target on plenty of passes but I guess you tend to forget that. Of course he was behind on the int off Witten's foot, that was a poorly thrown ball, and completely missed the deep safety on the long interception. The first one was just him forcing probably, looked like he got caught up in the excitement etc.
Overall the Cowboys were winning with 4 seconds left and had numerous chances to win the game. If Romo plays even close to as good as he did in the second half last week they win, but it looked like the pressure was simply too much. I expect him to bounce back and string together a couple of good games, but it remains to be seen how he can perform in a pressure situation.

3 interceptions is not right on target...throwing behind your receiver in not right on target..AND stringing together a couple of good games..NOT acceptable.

well one of his interceptions was a perfectly thrown ball. too bad it was perfectly thrown right to the giants safety! and "acceptable" or not it's what your getting. if it was as easy as saying "ok we want peyton manning (or tom brady) now" i'm sure jerry would have done that years ago. that's not how it works in real life. if you think you can do better, you should have tried out.

"if you think you can do better, you should have tried out."
huh? Look at the coverage of the game and tell me the Cowboys don't know they royally screwed the pooch yesterday. We're talking about the very few people who ever get to play pro football..the expectation should be high instead. You think Jerry Jones expects mediocrity?

Gotta say luniz, numbers don't lie (at least not in this case). 13 for 29 in passing with only 127 yards is not being on target at all for an NFL quarterback. Peeps have every reason to scrutinize that performance, imo.
2 backs with 220 yards between them was the Cowboys' saving grace last night. Secondary gave up 330 passing yards, even if you make a couple of open-field tackles it doesn't mean much when your opponent throws 3+ lengths of the field on you.
All in all, Romo was lackluster and has some 'splaining to do.
