Kids and family events in Dallas-Fort Worth, September 24-30

0

This week, there's pretty much one thing that'll grab the attention of families: the State Fair of Texas. The fair starts on Friday, September 25 at Fair Park in Dallas, and has a ton of things kids of all ages will enjoy. There's Big Tex, the unbeatable carnival games, tons of rides, and, of course, tons of fried food, including this year's heart-stopper, fried butter.

There are plenty of other events happening, however. The Jungle Book Kids opens at the Casa Mañana Theatre on Friday, September 25. The musical about jungle boy Mowgli and his animal friends Baloo, Bagheera, and Kaa will play every Friday/Saturday/Sunday through October 11.

Autumn at the Arboretum, at the -- duh -- Dallas Arboretum, actually started last week, but is now in full swing. The festival features fall flowers, a hay bale maze, live music, and more pumpkins than you can throw a stick at. Autumn at the Arboretum will happen every day through November 1.

Finally, the Oktoberfest in Addison may get more publicity, but the Oktoberfest in the McKinney Downtown Square is worth your time, too. I mean, did Addison have Weenie Dog Races? I think not. That plus local beers, pumpkin painting, and pony rides means fun for all.
