New blues club to open in Deep Ellum
DEEP ELLUM Dianne Tucker's favorite adolescent memories are rooted in her parents' blues club, Tuckers. Several soul singers sat on that stage in Fort Worth, and Tucker remembers all the good vibes, dance, and laughter she experienced there. She often spent time with the house band, which was led for years by U.P. Wilson.
Nearly thirty years later, Dianne and her brother Larry have resurrected their parents' live, lavish vision as their own. With the help of friends and family, Tuckers' Blues will celebrate its grand opening this weekend, September 25, 26, and 27.
The upscale blues club is guaranteed to bring back tunes, connection, and culture to Dallas' own blues home, Deep Ellum. The Tuckers hope to evoke the ambiance of the Cotton Club right here in North Texas.
"Royal Blues" features Liz Mikel and Sheran Keytan, two local powerhouse divas who have performed the blues internationally. Grammy-nominated bluesman Lucky Peterson will also make frequent guest appearances during the run of the show.
The set includes a wide array of legendary heart and soul pieces by the most magnanimous stars in the blues. B.B. King, Etta James, Diana Washington, and Aretha Franklin are among the featured artists whose hit songs will delight guests all night long.
The acts are rounded out by fellow local performers Liza Ellen, Nick Zagorski, Tamara Peterson, Purlie Gates, and Soul Dynasty. The set includes solos, duets, and ensembles that are guaranteed to get listeners cheering and clapping, singing and swaying.
Tuckers' Blues offers live, local entertainment every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night. Doors open at 8 p.m., and the show starts at 8:30 p.m. Cover charge for opening weekend is $20, but will be reduced to $15 after that. "Royal Blues" will run through October 18.
Tuckers' Blues is located one block east of Good-Latimer Expressway and Commerce Street in Deep Ellum. Patrons may take the new Green Line to the Deep Ellum Station or drive. The club is four blocks south of the DART station. Lot parking costs $5, or bring change to park on the street with a meter.

My husband and I attended Tucker's grand opening on Saturday, Sept 26 and we were more than pleased. We are both advid blues fans and truly enjoyed the club, the atmosphere and the wait staff was THE most attentive staff we have experienced in quite some time. We cannot wait to go again. Our hats are off to Mr. and Mrs. Young for opening such a wonderful venue for the blues. The entertainment was more than top notch.
