The play runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday, October 23 through November 1. Friday and Saturday performances at 8 p.m. and Sunday matinee performances at 2:30 p.m. Ticket prices are $25 online, $30 door.
The Mythical Memphis Coy: Or Just Another Metrosexual? is the story of Memphis Coy, a world famous international supermodel with narcissistic personality disorder. Although he has graced the covers of all but one fashion magazine in the world, he is obsessed with getting “that” cover. Inspired by the Greek mythology of Narcissus -- a hero who was renowned for his beauty yet disdained those who loved him. Memphis Coy will take you on a journey that will have you laughing until you cry.
As a Hollywood insider for more than 10 years, Wilson draws from his varying degrees of encounters with celebrities from Janet Jackson, George Clooney and Arnold Schwarzenegger to Queen Latifah, Kelsey Grammer, and Tom Arnold just to name a few. Wilson prefers to refer to this work as innovative theatre opposed to non-traditional theatre.
The sophisticated atmosphere and in vogue Design District location of Dallas’ leading contemporary art gallery, HCG, was strategically chosen to lend to the setting of the play, which is a New York gallery. “Donnie approaching us with the idea of HCG hosting his play, was seen as a great opportunity for us to expand our format. We are looking forward to integrating visual arts, theatre and music more often.”
