Monte Montgomery -- Friday, October 2 at Dan's Silver Leaf
From Austin, Monte Montgomery is one of country music's most outstanding artists. Known largely for his ferocious guitar playing, Montgomery has become one of the most well-respected names in music today.
This Friday, he will be playing what is sure to be a packed house at Dan's Silver Leaf. Montgomery, fresh off the news that he has finally been nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance, has a loyal following all across the state. Evidence will be in the number of fans on Friday. Get there early!
Here's an example of one of the more impressive Montgomery performances:
Frank Smith -- Friday, October at The Boiler Room
Also playing in Denton on Friday night is another fine country group from Austin. Frank Smith, which is the name of the band, creates a whole new genre of music by taking a traditional country sound and mixing it with contemporary indie music. While he is not quite as accomplished as their fellow Austin natives playing on the other side of the Square, they are picking up more fans at every turn.
Also playing Friday night at The Boiler Room is one of my favorite groups right now. The O's have a tremendously catchy sound and from everything I have heard put on a fantastic live show.

'80s Night - Every Thursday at Hailey's
I would just like to take a moment to appreciate one of the staples in the Denton music scene. '80s night has become something that is easy to take for granted. Every single Thursday, you can always count on one place to be able to go and dance your ass off.
Hailey's has hosted '80s night for years now, and it is nice to take a moment and reflect on what a great institution it is. If you haven't been out there in a while, dust off those Ray Bans and hi top sneakers and get out there!
