Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra performs Romeo and Juliet
FORT WORTH Shakespeare has inspired many compositions, but none surpass the popularity of Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet fantasy overture, with its crushing fight music and passionate love themes. The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra performs this beautiful music, and other works by the composer, at Bass Performance Hall Oct. 30 – Nov. 1. Mei-Ann Chen conducts all performances, which also include Tchaikovsky’s last work, the beloved Symphony No. 6 in B Minor, “Pathétique,” Op. 74. The Tempest, Symphonic Fantasia after Shakespeare, Op. 18 will be performed Saturday and Sunday.
The concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday, 8 p.m. Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday. Learn more about the music at Symphonic Insights, with host Principal Keyboardist Shields-Collins “Buddy” Bray, one hour before each concert in the audience chamber.
Tickets are on sale now.
