Chipotle chooses Dallas-Fort Worth as first market in southern region to test new kids’ menu
Chipotle Mexican Grill announces the expansion of its Kid's Menu test to DFW-area restaurants. DFW is the first market in the south region to test the new menu and Chipotle will introduce it with free food for kids.
Each Sunday from Sept. 27 to Oct. 18, all 37 DFW-area Chipotle restaurants will offer one free kid's meal when a parent purchases a burrito, tacos, burrito bowl or salad.
The new Kid's Menu was first introduced in Denver restaurants in April and began its regional test rollout in September in select cities across the country including Boston, Dallas, Arizona, Wisconsin and Sacramento, Calif.
The menu honors Chipotle's Food With Integrity commitment to use the best quality ingredients from more sustainable sources and is part of the company's campaign to help customers better understand the full universe of meal options at Chipotle and place orders more easily.
"It's never been more critical for kids to learn the importance of making smart food choices," said Steve Ells, founder, chairman and co-CEO of Chipotle. "We've found a way to make dining fun for kids and parents alike - we fuss over quality ingredients so parents don't have to."
Kid's Menu items feature Chipotle's naturally raised meats which come from animals that are humanely raised, never given antibiotics or added hormones and are fed a pure vegetarian diet. Chipotle's dairy products (cheese and sour cream) are made with milk from cows that are not treated with the synthetic recombinant bovine growth hormone (rBGH).
Priced at less than $4 including juice, organic milk or a small fountain drink, Kid's Menu options include:
. Kid's Meal - they build it ($3.95) - With this unique twist on a kid's meal, Chipotle invites children to get creative with their food. Kids can choose any three ingredients (one naturally raised meat and two other ingredients (like salsa and cheese) and two crispy or soft taco shells, all served on a tray. From there, it's up to them to construct and enjoy their tacos. This Kid's Meal also comes with rice and a small order of chips.
. Single Taco - we build it ($3.50) - An easy option for families on the go. Chipotle's crew builds single soft or crispy tacos using a choice of any three items from the line, served with a small order of chips.
. Small Cheese Quesadilla ($2.95)/Small Meat & Cheese Quesadilla ($3.50) - This classic kid favorite is served with a side of rice or beans and a small order of chips.
Chipotle also uses locally grown produce in its restaurants when seasonally available and its Dallas restaurants serve oregano from Rice, Texas-based Generation Farms.
