Keep Denton Beautiful to give away 900 trees to Denton residents
In celebration of National Make a Difference Day, Keep Denton Beautiful, Inc. (KDB) will give away 900 trees on Saturday, October 24 at the annual Community Tree GiveAway. The event will take place from 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. at the Denton Landfill, but trees are ONLY available by pre-registering. Residents can pre-register online at www.kdb.org starting October 1. Trees will be available on a first come, first served basis ONLY to pre-registered participants.
Residents can choose two trees from the following list: Live Oak, Red Oak, Bur Oak, Bald Cypress, Pecan, Sweetgum, Texas Redbud. You must be a city of Denton resident and agree to water the trees at least once a week for two years.
Pre-registration closes when all trees are claimed or October 17, whichever is earlier. KDB encourages carpooling to this event to cut back on the number of cars in line. Please bring proof of city of Denton residence. To quickly move the traffic that is generated by this event, trees will be placed in vehicles in a drive-through fashion. KDB volunteers will load the trees without anyone having to leave their vehicle.
The Community Tree GiveAway is sponsored by the City of Denton Parks & Recreation Department, Denton Municipal Electric, the City of Denton Solid Waste Department, and The Denton Record-Chronicle.
