Enjoy a mellow evening of singer/songwriter loveliness with Sarah Jaffe and Robert Gomez at Opening Bell (Southside). They're on their way to play Austin City Limits this weekend, so send them off with a pat on the back and a chai (or a beer. Heck, just buy them a beverage of some sort for good measure.)
Friday
We've got a last minute show on our hands at Hailey's, and it's going to be a smash! Like so many of our hometown heroes, we have to share Darktown Strutters with other cities -- but they'll be home Friday to rock the pants of their booming local fan base with Slackbeat and Oh Lewis. I believe the last time we saw Darktown was when they opened for School of Seven Bells and Black Moth Super Rainbow (the night the line outside wrapped around the block).
Saturday
Bastard Sons of Skoalfield
| When: | Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, noon to 3 p.m. |
| Where: | Fred's Texas Cafe, 915 Currie Street, Fort Worth |
| Cost: | Free |
| Age limit: | N/A |

Only leave the house for jam bands you can trust, that's what I always say. The weather looks like it's going to be incredible this weekend, so you may as well head over to Fred's for a burger and bop around to the Bastard Sons of Skoalfield -- these guys know how to get funky. It's the perfect way to kick off a gorgeous fall afternoon in Fort Worth.
Sunday
Thievery Corporation / Ancient Astronauts
| When: | Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009, 8:30 p.m. |
| Where: | House of Blues, 2200 North Lamar Street, Dallas |
| Cost: | $25 - $95 |
| Age limit: | All ages |

House of Blues is hosting a seriously sexy show on Sunday (pardon the alliteration, there was no way around it). Thievery Corporation is heading back through Dallas fresh on the heels of ACL, and hopefully this will give the band more energy, and not less. (Never can tell after a festival.) Either way, the show's going to be hot. It will likely make you feel like dancing real, real close to someone.

I'm headed to the OBC show with Sarah Jaffe and Robert Gomez. I've been trying to see Sarah for a while now, and I'm looking forward to a good show. Thanks for the picks!
