UPDATED: International Jazz Festival reveals information on their website Saturday only

For 24 hours, you'll be able to hear the music, see photos, and see members involved with the project. It all happens Saturday.

UPDATE: The Uptown Jazz Dallas website is open to non-members for 24 hours beginning at midnight. It stays open all day Saturday.

Keep your eye on the Uptown Jazz Dallas | International Jazz Festival. In the near future, organizer Keith Hill will open up the website UptownJazzDallas.com (which is currently open to members only) and debut a playlist of "artists of interest" for the impending 2012 festival.

We first reported on the jazz festival in February 2010, explaining the vision behind frontman Keith Hill's project.

The response was fantastic. Hill wrote on our site, "I really believe that the time is right for Uptown Jazz Dallas and that our city is ready to host an international jazz festival of this caliber. Just think, our focus is on music, food, fashion and the arts. Our city and the world is full of creativity in these areas. And, I truly believe that the vision for Uptown Jazz Dallas is the perfect vehicle to showcase all of this."

Fast forward to late April 2010, and Hill is back with an announcement. For 24 hours, you'll be able to hear the music, see photos, and see members involved with the International Jazz Festival for free. After that short time, the website will be closed to non-members again. (NOTE: A membership to the page is also free; you just have to ask and be accepted.)

Hill sent this Facebook update on Wednesday:

Hello,

Just a quick note. Business Development with our festival is going very well. We are constantly amazed at how many people both in the DFW Metroplex, and abroad, are interested in this project. From performing artists, arts & crafts artisans, chefs and foodie masters to fashionistas and the 'all out' arts and entertainment community. It's proof that our timing couldn't be better to introduce Uptown Jazz Dallas | International Jazz Festival. And, with a focus on music, food, fashion and the arts, we feel Dallas is ready for this type of showcase of the city.

Among the many things that goes into producing a world-class festival platform. Nothing is more important than the festival site(s). We are very pleased with this part of the project and feel very proud of what the City of Dallas has to offer the world in this regard. It's our goal to make the festival an international destination for the touring festival patron, in addition to, the citizenry of North Texas. And, we look forward to soon sharing our plans about the festival site(s) selection for Dallas.

Today you should check the FB Group page for our 'leak' of new music that is now playing in the Set-List of UptownJazzDallas.com. There's a lot of great music being denied access in the marketplace but not with us. We're here to make it known! Our social network is the distinguishing factor from other festivals and we look forward to exposing everyone to the platform. There's nothing like being in the house as opposed to being in the yard. Our FB Group is definitely the yard and can only give you data. The network gives the experience of the Festival, it's members and activities going on not only with the festival but with the entertainment and arts community as a whole.

So, we're tempted to share the network with you (our Facebook Festival Group). Stay tuned for a 24-hour sneak peek at UptownJazzDallas.com soon. We will give you a one day notice in advance of the preview. You'll then have access to the Front Page of the network for twenty-four hours. You'll be able to hear the music, see the original content, members listing, featured photos gallery and more. Should you want to 'explore' the neighborhood further you'll be able to sign-up directly without the need for approval. All of this for "one-day only", then, we'll go back into our hole and continue with business.

This is one of the benefits of being in the FB Group because this being done nowhere else. Other benefits are being developed for you as we expose you to more of the platform.

Until then. Be blessed like we know you already are.

Regards.

So what will you see when Hill opens the doors to the website? There will be a playlist with jazz musicians of all kinds. Those artists are on Hill's long list of potential performers for the festival. "When we add them to the set list, it allows us to get the members acclimated to the music," Hill said. "It's kind of like listening to your radio station, and when you go to a party, you're like, 'that's my jam!'

"It's our way to exposing people to music to that we think they should hear," he said. "It's somewhat of an experiment, but it's a good one."

Hill has experience building social networks and thinks they are the best way to market this music festival. He built TheJudahSet.com a year and a half ago targeting the Christian community. There, he posts breaking news in that niche market, plus playlists of music people might not hear on local radio stations. He let the website spread by word of mouth, creating a model that seemed perfect for his current project with the jazz festival: the website is invite only, with a 24-hour sneak peek from non-members who will (hopefully) want to join.

"Next thing you know, we're on different continents around the world," he said of TheJudahSet. He hopes to have the same reaction with the jazz festival.

At press time, 207 people were members on UptownJazzDallas.com, PegNews included. The Facebook page has 1,035 members. "The other festivals, they're not doing social media. I think we're the first ones to really show how a social network is important to ideas," he said.

Want your shot at being in-the-know for his blossoming festival? We'll tell you when the 24-hour all-access will begin.

I am a new member. I am already so grateful for such a tasteful avenue of socialization and appreciation of jazz music. It just lifts my spirit. I have invited others to check out the site. I am definitely ready for all the coming attractions and a willing supporter. Thanks a million Keith.

Keith Hill, verified:

Thank you for tracking our developments. The Sneak Peek Saturday was a success and allowed many of our Facebook Festival Group members to experience the music and related content at this early stage of the public roll-out of Uptown Jazz Dallas.

We are very close to announcing the festival site for Year One, and, some concerts that will introduce the festival more openly in the marketplace. We appreciate PegasusNews for it's continuing coverage. More to follow as the journey continues.

What do you think?
