Naan Sushi going into Geisha House space on Cedar Springs in Dallas

Sushi coming to Uptown in a couple of months.

— Naan Sushi, the classy sushi spot at the Shops at Legacy in Plano, will open a branch in Dallas, taking over the empty space on Cedar Springs vacated by Geisha House.

Located on the ground floor of the Gables Villa Rosa building, Geisha House closed in March after some hard months of scraping by.

An employee at the Naan in Plano said that the Uptown branch will be open "in a couple of months." Suppose they'll still have the Dyson hand-dryers?

Naan's previous expansion entailed a branch in Allen at Watters Creek; it closed in December '08. Naan is owned by MK Kim, former owner of Jaxx Steak House in Addison and an alumni of SMU Law School.

and here comes the official release:

Gables Villa Rosa and NAAN Sushi announced today that NAAN Sushi Uptown will soon occupy the corner space of uptown’s Gables Villa Rosa project. The 7,000 square foot restaurant and bar will open in November and offer high-quality Japanese fare, and a social atmosphere the uptown crowd craves.

“We are pleased to welcome NAAN Sushi, an extraordinarily talented and experienced group, to Gables Villa Rosa,” notes Darin Botelho, Vice President of Gables Urban. “Locals and residents of Villa Rosa will appreciate its convenient location and quality cuisine.” NAAN Sushi Uptown will be the second location for the Japanese concept that has had tremendous success as one of the premier restaurants within The Shops at Legacy in Plano. The uptown location will accommodate approximately 300 seats and the Orange Bar, connected to the restaurant, will comfortably seat 120. Culinary creations from Executive Chef Tam Huynh (previously at Steel) will fill the menu and are sure to please even the most sophisticated pallets. “We are excited to be a part of Villa Rosa”, said Peter ‘MK’ Kim, Owner of NAAN Sushi Uptown. “This is a great opportunity to introduce our signature sushi and style to Uptown!”

As it does at the Plano location, NAAN will offer various happy hour specials on sushi and cocktails daily, including SMU Wednesdays featuring happy hour specials all night. NAAN Uptown will be open from 11am to 2am daily and will have a party room available for private events.

Since opening in 2003, NAAN Sushi has impressed customers and critics alike and has received numerous accolades such as four stars by ZAGAT 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010; four stars from The Dallas Morning News; and “Best of“ from D Magazine and Texas Monthly. By offering creative, but traditional Japanese cuisine, NAAN Sushi consistently pleases the appetites of its loyal clientele, while also drawing in newcomers that soon become hooked by not only the food, but the stimulating social setting. Should be called the Non-Restaurant. What is this? Everybody's first day... ON THE PLANET??? Food was good, not great. Think Benehana with less salt. Service: table service was abysmal. Bar service... I don't know what's lower than abysmal. Out of the wine I ordered ("It must have been stolen.") What do y'all do, buy it by the bottle? Replacement drink didn't show up during dinner. Fortunately they comp'ed it. Ya know, if I didn't have a card for complimentary hibachi grill, I'd B.I.T.C.H!!! BTW, if you have a card for a complimentary hibachi, do call to make a reservation. My grill mates were there an hour before i arrived. They were PISS'D! They won't be here in 6 months..., maybe not 3.
