Dallas’ USA Film Festival rolls out their Oscar Night America event for 2010

The Oscar-watching party at Studio Movie Grill benefits the KidFilm DISD outreach program.

For the 14th year in a row, the folks at Dallas' USA Film Festival will host an Academy-sanctioned Oscar-watching party. This year's venue partner will be Studio Movie Grill (the Dallas location, at Royal and Central).

The event -- scheduled for (unsurprisingly enough) for Oscar night, March 7, with doors opening at 6 p.m. -- is one of 50 official watching parties across the country sanctioned by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Admissions proceeds go to benefit the USA Film Festival's KidFilm DISD outreach programs, so as you lounge in your comfy chair while partaking of freshly-prepared food and frosty beverages, you'll know you're doing something noble in addition to enjoying a festive night at the Oscars. (Sort of.)

Honorary Chairman for Oscar Night America Dallas is Gary Cogill, film and performing arts critic for WFAA-TV.

Here's the lowdown, direct from press release:

The Dallas audience will watch the Academy Awards telecast on a large theater screen courtesy of WFAA TV, the Dallas affiliate of the ABC Television Network, which broadcasts the Academy Awards presentation. This is the 17th year that the Academy and ABC have cooperated with local charities to support official Oscar Night viewing parties throughout the country. This year marks the 14th year that the Festival’s Dallas event has been sanctioned by the Academy.

“Especially in these difficult financial times, supporting local charities is essential. We’re very happy that Oscar Night America serves as a successful, and fun, way for people around the country to help make a difference,” said Academy Executive Director Bruce Davis. Official Oscar Night parties last year raised more than $3 million through 52 charities. All money raised stays in the local community.

The Academy will provide party guests in Dallas the same official program distributed to guests at the Oscar® presentation at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center® in Hollywood. Dallas guests will also be served dinner and can participate in a live auction featuring movie memorabilia and more.

Tickets to the Dallas event are $75 and $45 and include dinner and complimentary welcome champagne. To purchase tickets, contact the USA Film Festival at 214-821-6300 or usafilmfest@aol.com
