Potential Banksy painting at Dallas intersection isn’t a Banksy after all
Bummer.
Could this be a Banksy? People around the Dallas area are speculating whether this unusual painting, located at 75 and Forest Lane, is possibly an authentic Banksy street art work. Banksy is a world famous British graffiti artist whose identity is unknown. The buzz is building in the art community, and through research, we have one piece of the puzzle: It ain't a Banksy. Here's the correspondence I received from official sources:
Thanks for your email.
The image that you sent is NOT by Banksy.
All the best

So there you have it. "Pest Control" is described on www.banksy.com as the exclusive handler of Banksy works.
Now the real question remains: Who done it?

Actually the back foot appears to be reared back, not missing.

Don't really need Banksy in Dallas..we've got plenty of talented spray paint artists here who deserve our attention...Ray Albarez, Hatziel Flores, Jason Ice (who just moved to Austin), Steve Hamilton and all the homies from F6 Gallery over in Arlington..

So does anyone know who did the "Kids" on the ramp wall at 30/35E/75?

I do not know who KIDS is, but there is a deeper story there. There was a writer in the E. Dallas and downtown area mostly that went by the name of "KIDS." Hadn't seen anything about him for about a decade when in the past few months I'd been noticing "RIP KIDS" popping up around the neighborhood. I wonder if this may be some kind of tribute piece.
So the question is.. DID KIDS DIE? I need to know the scoop on what happened here.

Never mind, I found out. KIDS died this year. Dont know from what. He apparently was hittin' up the US in that time I hadn't seen anything from him. I always liked his stuff and apparently he elevated to nationally-known street status.
RIP King KIDS

Not really sure how us talking about Banksy puts us on his spotlight. I doubt he'd come all the way out here to spray something.

Maybe it has something to do with the recent premiere of "Exit Through the Gift Shop"? Someone said it's been here for a while.

I can confirm that it's been there for at least a month or so. If it has anything to do with the Exit Through the Gift Shop, it's a case of someone who got inspired by the movie. Most sincere form of flattery, you know..

And in my haste to get to the bottom of the KIDS mystery I forgot to answer osterbusch's initial question: the KIDS tribute piece was done by a pair of local graf artists named Fetus and Debt.

That is really neat not an eye sore of fallen art, timing and space proves good symbolic talk in the making of such works on wall space,I recall in the Bronx, a very difficult place to live how Wall Art did have an effect of cooling the 19th Century row house slum into some kind of funk and bliss...A/T, Beauty and symbols in the eye of the beholder..

I love this piece. It has been there at least a couple of months and I would be curious to find out who did it.
As to the taggers who spray paint their tag name all over everything, I wish they would grow up and learn to draw. Make some images, maybe use some colors, do something worthwhile and beautiful, not just petty dogs-peeing-everywhere-to-mark-their-spots vandalism. I like graffiti ART. I hate tagging.

Jimmy, I redacted the name in your comment because you are right; that is the artist's name. We were able to secure an interview with the artist, who is speaking anonymously, but we've agreed to take his name down.
Stay tuned; I'll post a new story soon.
