Upcoming Denton concerts — June 18-19

Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers, Slow Burners, and the Infrequent Exposure Showcase are all on tap in Denton this week.

Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers -- Friday at The Boiler Room

Here in Texas we like our country rockin’, our dirt red, and our things big. This has worked for us. This has worked so well that other states are getting in on our act. Do we fight? Do we argue? No, we extend a heapin’ helpin’ of southern hospitality and open our doors to our neighbors.

Our friends at The Boiler Room are opening their doors to Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers, who are coming to our fair burg all the way from Mars, er, I mean Phoenix, Ariz. If your personal tastes trend towards an alt-country flair, they’d love to see you there. Heck, we’ll even make it easy for you -- you can buy your tickets for Roger Clyne right here on MyDentonMusic. Don’t say we never did nuthin’ for ya.

Slow Burners

Slow Burners -- Friday at Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studios

Things you don’t see often: unassisted triple plays, Haley’s Comet, a Slow Burners gig. Come Friday, you can cross one of those items off of your list. The Slow Burners will play Rubber Gloves and show off tunes from their woefully overlooked release This Is Where We Fight! What, that’s not enough? OK, Ryan and Grady from RTB2 are in the band. More? George Neal is too. Yes, he from Little Grizzly. Ok, I thought that would do it. American Werewolf Academy and Deep Snapper open.

Infrequent Exposure Showcase -- Saturday at Hailey's

Infrequent Exposure, 88.1 KNTU’s very own local music program, is celebrating its one-year anniversary with a blow-out at Hailey’s on Saturday, June 19. Local music stalwarts Caleb Ian Campbell, The Fox and The Bird, Spooky Folk, and RTB2 will be softly caressing your ear-holes with folky goodness and/or melting your faces with blistering and unforgiving rock. As an added bonus, Infrequent Exposure host Hollie Groos is turning 21, so let’s all make this a party she’ll never remember!
