I had a fun time! However, really don't understand why they didn't provide those little plates with a place to rest your wine glass. I had a hard time all night, maneuvering where to hold my wine glass while trying to sample the food. There were hardly any tables throughout the entire ballroom to place your glass on or use to rest a plate. I felt awkward all night juggling pamphlets from restaurants, my glass and plates of food. Other than that, it was a lot of fun. Thank you Pegasus News!

not to mention the fact that the event generated mountains of disposable packaging. i realize it's a struggle to deal with all of the single-serving demands, but what a disaster. i saw the same thing last week at the Les Dames' Raiser Grazer. unfortunately, the environmentally friendly options tend to cost more or else are considered too complicated to deal with, such as using real plates
i really appreciated the two French places, Lavendou and Cadot, whose approach was minimal -- especially Lavendou, who served their lobster bisque in a single-shot cup, no spoon no nothing, you could just sip it and go

A great event and a treasure for the city of Dallas. Jim White was the consummate host, greeting people all day and making sure they were much more comfortable then himself.
The amount of restaurants was gretaer this year, adding ten more to the list. It seemed the chefs were more relaxed and willing to chat up the guests, more so here than other events I have attended over the past few years. Perhaps a savory side affect of the state of affairs in the industry, and the cachet of new young chefs.
Over all really incredible. I loved the Nobu lettuce wrap, chef Valimonts nori crispy ahi tuna, and the pork belly couscous from the French Room (smooth, buttery and decandantly creamy).
Being pleasured by 400 variatals of wine was a kick, but the scotch flights in the VIP room will be memorable for a long, long while.

Appreciate the comments. Teresa, from an environmental POV, at least all the glass and plastic bottles from the event were recycled. Unfortunately, real plates are not practical for an event with this many restaurant tasting tables. Regarding the plates for holding glasses: some people like 'em; some don't. We've used them in the past. There is a certain ambivalence about them. Some people find them restrictive and clumsy to keep up with. I'm sure we will use them again. We had ample seating and tables in the foyer of the ballroom. The decision was made to keep the flow of the space open between tasting tables rather than to restrict movement with high-top tables scattered throughout the ballroom. We will take all of these comments into consideration as we plan for next year. Can't do anything about "OEsophagus's" comment. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I have attended all 6 years of Savor Dallas, and I think this was one of the best. As they say, "attitude is everything" and I'm not sure if it was a sign of the times or the new venues, but everyone was in a great mood! Wine makers and chefs alike were very generous with their knowledge. I found some great wines (Becker which is a Texas wine!), beer (Stella Artois will always be one of my favorites but the Great Brewers beers were amazing), spirits (if you haven't tried one of the Milagro jalapeno margaritas or Chopin martinis you are missing out), food (I will forever lust after Gaylord Texan's habanero cream corn) and sweets (JDorian and nibs chocolates along with raspberry treats from Tart bakery, Cakeballs and Henry's homemade ice cream). The only thing that could have been better than this years Savor Dallas is having Savor Dallas more often! Oh - and did I mention I got to meet the Travelocity Gnome? Definitely something for everyone. Congratulations to all for a wonderful event!
