New salon called Wink opens in West Village March 22
"Waxing is so '90s!”
DALLAS Opening March 22, the intimate, four-chair salon called Wink offers threading services -- eyebrows, upper lip, chin, neck -- for guys and girls.
According to Wink’s owner Keyur Patel, threading is the most gentle and hygienic form of hair removal because no chemicals or tools are used besides antibacterial cotton thread.
“Waxing is so '90s!” says Patel. “Threading is a very precise and burn-free method of hair removal. Even people that use Retin-A or take other skin sensitive medications can still use threading.”
Patel has hired a team of hair removal gurus including a former Beverly Hills celeb-studded, threading salon staffer. The professionals’ technique traps hair in a mini lasso and lifts it straight out of the follicle with a twisting motion.
Treatments, which take about two to 10 minutes and last roughly two weeks, are less painful, time consuming, and expensive than waxing. Prices range from $8 for a basic service to $36 for the entire face and neck, and services include a complimentary glass of champagne, wine, or coffee.
This is the first location for Wink and Dallas’ only specialized threading salon, according to Patel.
Location: 3839 McKinney Avenue, suite 115; 214-599-9465. Open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Shannon Sutlief, staff:
Threading is great for people like me who are allergic to ingredients used in beauty products. I'll have to try Wink; so far, I've been going to Styles of India, a small, local franchise.

By chance, while driving around in Uptown, I was very surprised to find a threading salon in the Uptown area! When I had time, I stopped in hoping they would take me without an appointment. I was eagerly greeted at the front door by the owner and 3 other people telling me they would definitely take me! The owner was extremely welcoming, and the atmosphere was beautiful and clean. As a nurse, I am very particular about hygiene, and this place I can say is topnotch! The facility was fabulous and they specifically had chairs for the comfort of their clients! I used to drive over 20-30 minutes to get my eyebrows threaded at another salon and although they were nice as well, the drive seriously was a killer along with the chair I had to crouch down in! My threading artist Kalpana was extremely accurate and for the amount she had to do, she was amazing! She was very professional and made light conversation. I would highly recommend this place to all my friends, colleagues, and anyone I know. I hope they can even have another location close to the park cities sometime in the future! If you want a down to earth place with class, topnotch artists, superb customer service without being high maintenance and fake, this is the place to go! Will definitely be a regular after today! Thank goodness for wink!

I went to Wink and LOVED it! I'm African American and have very sensitive skin. I made an appointment at Lash Studio (across the street from Wink) and was 10 minutes late - thus, I had to reschedule. I walked across to Wink and the atmosphere was welcoming. Nice and clean was my first impression. Great work, I will return.
