Deep Ellum Arts Festival sneak peek: Shuttle
Catch the dance party Saturday, April 3.
DEEP ELLUM Shuttle is a Fort Worth-based band rocking the scene with their funky dance music. The band consists of three musicians: frontman Matt Skates (bass, synthesizer), Scott Ivey (drums), and Justin Barbee (keyboards, synthesizer, trumpet).
We're pleased to say they'll be playing at the Pegasus News Stage at the Deep Ellum Arts Festival from 6:20-7:20 p.m. on Saturday, April 3. Check out a quick interview with Skates:
You were in several bands before making Shuttle work. Why has this band stuck together?
It's three highly effective musicians as opposed to eight moderately effective ones. Also, a lot of my other bands just broke up because people moved.
What's your approach to music?
I want to make music that is crowd pleasing and intellectually stimulating at the same time. I love anything that's beat-based.
What can we expect next from you guys -- tours? new albums?
We're working on tunes for a new CD; not sure when it will be out. Being as we're not an indie-rock folk band, we're not getting any help financially. We have to take care of it in house.
How's it coming with the Fort Worth Co-Op?
Good, come to a meeting and check it out!
Can we expect a dance party during your Deep Ellum Arts Festival show?
I can only hope, that's when I have the most fun!
