David Ferreira, of FC Dallas, honored as one of league’s best players
The midfielder played all but one minute for the Dallas side this season, playing 2,699 of 2,700 minutes.
FRISCO FC Dallas midfielder David Ferreira has been named to the 2010 MLS Best XI, which annually honors the league’s best players at their positions.
One of three finalists for the 2010 Volkswagen MLS MVP award, Ferreira scored eight goals and dished out 13 assists (second-most in the league) during the regular season, including two game-winning goals. The Colombian playmaker has been widely praised all season for his play and importance to the Dallas attack and was involved in 21 of FC Dallas’ 42 goals this season. Ferreira had a five-game run at the end of the season in which he either scored a goal or an assist, ending the regular season just two assists shy of tying Jason Kreis for the all-time club single-season assists mark. Ferreira also tied Landon Donovan and Bobby Convey for the MLS lead in game-winning assists in 2010 with five.
