— Fort Worth South officially celebrated the grand opening of its La Gran Plaza campus on September 23, with a ribbon cutting, campus tours, and an open house for friends and family of students and faculty. The South campus is Everest College’s second location in Fort Worth. The North campus is located on Riverside Drive.

Marilyn Long, a veteran of the education sector, has been named the campus president. She joined Everest as an adjunct instructor and advanced to president of the Fort Worth North campus in 2008. As president, Long’s responsibilities include overall management and leadership of the campus.

“This campus will give thousands of students the opportunity to learn and grow in these classrooms for years to come,” said Long. “Career colleges play an important role in Texas, and it’s crucial that students have a variety of educational opportunities in order to reach their professional goals.”

“Not only do we help change our students’ lives, but these students go on to change their communities,” added Bill Buchanan, Corinthian Colleges executive vice president. “Up to 600 Everest College - Fort Worth South graduates will enter the Tarrant County workforce each year.”

The Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce Ambassador team, representatives from Congresswoman Kay Granger’s and Congresswoman Wendy Davis’ offices, and members of various community organizations such as the YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth and Big Brothers Big Sisters Lonestar, were on hand for the ribbon cutting and campus tours.

Everest - Fort Worth South opened in the spring with three core programs and already has more than 300 students. The campus has steadily added programs and currently offers the following degree and diploma programs: business, criminal justice, dental assistant, medical administrative assistant, medical assistant, and medical insurance billing and coding.
