FC Dallas 2, Colorado Rapids 2 (October 9)
The team set MLS records.
FRISCO FC Dallas (12-2-14, 50 pts) set the MLS single-season unbeaten mark with a 2-2 draw versus Colorado Saturday night at Pizza Hut Park, stretching the Dallas side’s unbeaten streak to 19 games. The mark also ties the Columbus Crew for the longest overall unbeaten streak in MLS history (July 3, 2004 to April 2, 2005).
The tie was the 14th of the season for FC Dallas, an all-time MLS record for draws in a single season.
Milton Rodriguez scored FC Dallas’ first goal in the 27th minute. It was his fifth goal since joining FC Dallas on May 13, 2010. On the play, Atiba Harris redirected a shot off the crossbar. The rebound trickled to Rodriguez’s feet on the left side of the six-yard box, where he hammered home the loose ball.
David Ferreira scored the go-ahead goal for FC Dallas in the 37th minute. Marvin Chavez assisted on the play for his second assist of the season. On the play, Ferreira fed a ball in to Chavez at the top of the box. Chavez held off his defender while Ferreira made a run towards goal. Once Ferreira was clear of his marker, Chavez slipped a pass inside to Ferreira, who finished low to the far corner for the 2-1 lead.
Colorado equalized in the 51st minute on a goal by Jeff Larentowicz. It was Larentowicz’s second goal of the game and his fourth of the season. The goal was the first given up by FC Dallas via corner kick this season. Larentowicz was assisted on the play by Jamie Smith.
"I think we had chances to put them away," said FC Dallas Defender Heath Pearce. "We weren’t organized. ... That’s something we’re going to have to change going into the playoffs because I think the field’s too quiet in terms of organization, in terms of people stepping their game up both verbally and just in action as well."
