Meet Dallas blogger Sylvia Subialdea of Hungry Texan
She specializes in Tex-Mex, authentic Mexican, and Southern recipes.
Dallas is home to well known food bloggers such as DallasFood.org and review sites such as Full Custom Gospel BBQ (a Pegasus News content partner).
But there's a number of bloggers around Dallas who focus on cooking and recipes, each with a unique point of view, which we're profiling weekly. This week: Sylvia Subialdea.
Blog: Hungry Texan: "I have a deep love of Tex-Mex and authentic Mexican cooking, diner-style food, and Southern cooking."
Blogger: Sylvia, 25, manages an e-commerce site by day, and blogs in her spare time. She started her blog in June and posts at least a couple of days a week, often more frequently.
Her foodie background: "I'm kindof a homebody. I cook for myself and my husband, and family events. I have been cooking a long time. My family owns Gold Rush Café in Lakewood. So I grew up there and waited tables and messed around in the kitchen. A lot of what's on the blog is family stuff, and dishes I like, and things from my heritage."
How she got blogging: "I have a lot of things I dabble in -- sewing and crafting and cooking. But really, cooking has been a longtime favorite. I enter chili cookoffs every year, I love all of that. Starting the blog was a way to get something down on paper and share with my family and friends. I’m not a photographer, I don't have a fancy camera, but my mom likes to read what I write and she doesn’t care how it looks."
Favorite quick dish: "When I'm pressed for time I make nachos. Or tacos. I always keep chips, cheese, and jalapenos on hand. We probably eat some form of Tex-Mex 4-5 times a week, maybe more."
Finding a community: "I'm a little anti-social, Facebook is not my thing. But I've put myself out there on the food blogging network and have made a lot of contacts. There’s a few bloggers, we go back and forth and see what each other is doing. I love that aspect. It's nice to connect with other people."

unlisted, humbleness is a word according to a few dictionaries, but I agree that humility is better.

This gal can cook! And she presents her food in a very appealing manner, too. I'm lucky in that I happen to know her and have enjoyed her culinary expertise on more than one occasion, but I have really high standards, so don't count my opinion as a biased one. Yummy grub!

I thought I could cook, now I just do the dishes. I'm totally fine with that.
