Kids and family events in Dallas-Fort Worth, September 2-8
Airplanes and rodeo events head the list on Labor Day Weekend.
With Labor Day Weekend coming up, the pickings amongst kids/family events are naturally pretty slim. That doesn't mean there's nothing to do if you plan on staying in town -- here's the best of what's in store.
For airplane aficionados, Lancaster Municipal Airport is the place to be on Saturday morning as they host 2010 Warbirds on Parade. 40 or so vintage aircraft will on display, along with other military and classic vehicles. This isn't an airshow, though -- if you want a chance to see the planes fly, it's advised to either show up early or stay late.
If cows and bulls are more your style, head out to the Fort Worth Stockyards on Saturday or Sunday for Cow Camp. The free event will allow kids and adults alike to pretend like they're cowboys -- you can help rope, saddle, and herd cattle, amongst other interactive activities.
Finally, for some more Western flavor, Pawnee Bill's Wild West Show will put on two performances on Saturday at Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth. You'll be entertained by trick roping, trick shooting, trick riding, cowboy songs, and an entertaining look at history.

If your kids are fans of Cat in the Hat, come down to the Dallas Zoo on Sept. 6 for a launch party "The Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That." The new animated television series debuts on Labor Day on PBS KIDS. The event features a science based scavenger hunt, screenings of the series premiere, story-time readings from the Cat in the Hat Learning Library series that Seuss developed for Random House, and more. Meet the Cat in the Hat from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
