New Lemon Bar opening in Frisco November 1
From same owner who will also open a Frisco branch of Burger Girl.
FRISCO A second branch of Lemon Bar will open in Frisco in October, confirms owner Nick Galanos, who will follow the same formula he's used to make the first branch in Dallas' West Village so successful when its prior tenants were not.
"I have kind of a history of taking places that haven't done well and making them work," Galanos says. "When we went into West Village, a place that had been Ferre and Pescabar and Lazare, you have to look at the community you live in -- what do they want to use this place for? With the Lemon Bar, people want to be able to come in during the day and have a reasonably priced lunch. And everybody has a lunch hour, so we need to get you in and out on time."
He's given just as much thought to what people want for happy hour.
"People want half-price appetizers and drinks that are reasonably priced, and they want to come in and unwind," he says. "So the bartenders during happy hour are more conversational because that’s what that crowd wants. At dinner they want to come in, have a sophisticated atmosphere but be able to wear blue jeans, and read the menu. For that, I have a cigar box with 10 pairs of reading glasses. In the evening, people want a bar they can come into and rub elbows. Basically we’re building a neighborhood bar, a neighborhood restaurant for Frisco."
Galanos, a veteran restaurateur who started at TGIFriday's where he was chief operating officer, is committed to Frisco, where he's also opening a second branch of Burger Girl.
"Frisco is an emerging market, and we're right across from a movie theater that's opening in December," he said.
