Great Rescue Roundup in Fort Worth to showcase purebred dogs
The participating rescue groups are trying to raise money to help cover the cost of producing the event with a spaghetti dinner on April 20.
On Saturday, May 21, the Fort Worth Stockyards will be filled to the brim with purebred dogs of all colors and sizes. They’ll be taking part in the Great Rescue Roundup – an event designed to showcase a wide variety of breeds and shine a light on the many breed specific rescue groups in North Texas. Thinking of adding a new dog to your household, but don’t want to buy from a breeder? Adopting a breed-specific rescue dog may be the answer. You can save a life, and save some money, too.
There is a rescue group for almost any breed. These groups don’t have shelters, but rely instead on volunteer foster families to house, love, and care for the dogs in their program. Many of the dogs come from families devastated by the economy who can no longer afford to care for them. The foster families get to know their fosters well and can tell you if a dog is housebroken, crate trained, does/doesn't like cats, loves kids, other dogs, or if the dog has any special behavioral issues.
Participating in the Great Rescue Roundup will be groups that rescue and foster the following breeds: Afghan Hound, Australian Shepherd, Bassett Hound, Bichon Frise, Black & Tan Coonhound, Bloodhound, Border Collie, Boston Terrier, Boxer, Brittany Spaniel, Bulldog, Chihuahua, Cocker Spaniel, Collie, Dachshund, Dalmation, English Setter, German Shorthair Pointer, Golden Retriever, Gordon Setter, Great Dane, Great Pyrenees, Greyhound, Irish Setter, Jack Russell Terrier, Labrador Retriever, Lhasa Apso, Mastiff, Old English Sheepdog, Pekingese, Pug, Rhodesian Ridgeback, Springer Spaniel, Vizsla, Weimaraner – and more.
The event starts at 9 a.m. and runs until 4 p.m., and it’s free! Adoption fees and screening requirements vary. Sponsors for the event include Purina, Nature’s Balance Pet Foods, and Petco. Make plans now to attend!
On a related note, the participating rescue groups are trying to raise money to help cover the cost of producing the event. They’ve hooked up with Flying Pig Roadhouse in Lewisville to host a spaghetti dinner on Wednesday, April 20th. In addition to some “Good ole pot belly cuisine,” they’ll have a fun raffle with great prizes including VIP passes to Billy Bob’s, Dallas Star’s autographed memorabilia, an Orvis large futon dog bed, and much more. Dinner is only $8 with all proceeds benefitting the Great Rescue Roundup.

unlisted, humbleness is a word according to a few dictionaries, but I agree that humility is better.
