Audio: “That’s The Way Baseball Go” by Merle Haggard
This is the most adorable tribute to a baseball manager we've seen yet.

ARLINGTON The Texas Rangers have a new theme song. Called "That's The Way Baseball Go," Merle Haggard sings the catchy tune, which is modeled after the song "That's The Way Love Goes." (The song wasn't originally Haggard's, but it's widely remembered as his.)
It's of course dedicated to Rangers Manager Ron Washington, who coined the phrase "That's the way baseball go," which later inspired t-shirts with the beloved slogan on them.
We'll go so far as to say "That's The Way Baseball Go" is better than the one about love. It's quicker paced, and it's got a gorgeous fiddle tune soaring through the lyrics. The words to the new song were written by Rangers Co-Chairman Bob Simpson, his wife Janice, and Jim Hodges and Jackson Yandell.
The song is available on iTunes -- but you should listen to it here first -- and all proceeds go to the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation. It can't get much more 'Merican than that.
You'll hear "That's The Way Baseball Go" at every home game until the end of the season. It will be played at different times during each game. Tonight, for instance, you'll hear it at the end of the second inning.
Grammar rules aside, everybody sing: "That's the way baseball go, babe / That's the way it go-o-o..."
