Sugar & Frosting is a new bakery in Keller
Took over old What's Up Cupcake space.
KELLER A new bakery called Sugar & Frosting has taken over a space in old downtown Keller that was previously called What's Up Cupcake.
According to a press release, Sugar & Frosting has over 30 flavors of cupcakes, plus custom cakes, cookies, and other treats that are made from scratch daily using real butter, no shortening, and no preservatives.
Sugar & Frosting began as a boutique cake business owned and managed by Melody Fitzgerald, who’s been seen on Food Network’s Paranormal Cake Challenge. Melody found the cute little shop called What's Up Cupcake in old downtown Keller, a shop that locals have come to know and love. She learned that her friends and owners of What's Up Cupcake were ready to move on, and it was then that she realized it was meant to be hers. So she bought What's Up Cupcake, kept the same delicious flavors and added some new ones, added some special touches both inside and out, and What's Up Cupcake is now Sugar & Frosting, a name that signifies the broader range of sweet treats they now offer.
Fitzgerald got her start at The Mansion on Turtle Creek in Dallas, where she worked under the direction of James Wagner & Dean Fearing. She later relocated to the East Coast, where she worked as an assistant pastry chef at Finale and as a cake designer at Montillo's, both in the Boston area. In Maine, Melody worked at Goose Cove Lodge, where she had the distinct honor of creating Julia Child’s 88th birthday cake. After returning to Texas, Melody workes as a pastry chef, cake designer, and design consultant.
These are the 30+ cupcake flavors she makes, which are rotated:
Vanilla Butterscotch, Chocolate-Covered Cherry, Cookies & Cream, Lemon Raspberry, Orange Dreamsicle, Key Lime Pie, Strawberry, Red Velvet, Cherry Limeade, Lemon Cheesecake, Banana Split, Vanilla Chocolate, Strawberry Shortcake, Pink Raspberry Lemonade, Vanilla, Salted Caramel, Wedding Cake, Coconut Cream, Smores, Samoa, German Chocolate Caramel, Toffee Crunch, Nutella Swirl, Tiramisu, Lemon, and more.
