Blitz Sports Bra & Grill in Garland doesn’t have a typo in its name

It's what the servers wear, silly.

— Don't go trying to correct the spelling on Blitz Sports Bra & Grill. The owners know it says "bra," even though it's really a bar.

"We called it 'Sports Bra' on purpose," says Frank Negron, who co-owns the place with partner Bruce D'Ostroph. "It is a breastaurant, if you want, like Hooters or Twin Peaks, but that's as far as it goes. The girls are dressed like little referees. But 'Blitz' doesn't have any connotation, and we didn't want parents coming in and saying, 'You should have told us' -- so we called it the Sports Bra & Grill."

They've already witnessed some ensuing confusion: "When we went to Dallas County for permits, they all thought it was a typo," he says.

Both Negron and D'Ostroph are ex-cops: Negron is a retired New York city police officer, and his partner is a former Dallas police detective, Negron says. They're in a former Fuddrucker's space south of the Firewheel Center, which Negron acknowledges is a "difficult" location, with ongoing construction on George Bush Turnpike. But they have 28 TVs, beers on tap, and a clever menu theme with food conceived from a consult by a former chef at Palomino.

"All the names are based on sporting events, like the choke chicken salad and Olympic onion rings, and the Madison Square Garden salad -- anything to make you remember the place," Negron says.

I gave the place a try, and guess what? The food is actually damn good! I've been to a lot of bars and taverns, and this place is more like a restaurant with a bar. Best cheese steak I've ever had, and I've been to Philly. Oh, and the eye candy was a nice, too :D

How unfortunate that still another restaurant is trying to make money by selling out women's physical beauty and catering to men's basest desires. Where are all the feminists? Too busy harassing Michelle Bachmann, I guess.

Great restaurant/bar. Everything I've tried on the menu is pretty good, generous portions and very well priced. Staff is super friendly and I always feel welcome. Yes, it is a bit hidden, unfortunately, as I'm sure this affects business. I hope this place stays around and is successful, as it is a great addition to the Firewheel bar scene.

Prices are average but if you don't sit at the bar be prepared to wait for service. Wait staff is minimal or inexperienced to handle crowds.

unlisted, humbleness is a word according to a few dictionaries, but I agree that humility is better.
