The Column Awards Board of Directors and Executive Director/Producer John Garcia are very thrilled to announce that for a second straight year the organization is donating $10,000 to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

The Column Awards is the only awards organization in the nation that donates their earnings (after operating expenses) to this charity. This dedicated donation effort has resulted in national coverage by the Broadway media as well as special recognition by BC/EFA and Actors Equity Association (the union of professional Actors and Stage Managers.) The Column Awards donation continues to keep the organization on the Angel giving level with BC/EFA.

Garcia stated, “The organization is deeply honored to be acknowledged by the Broadway community. We continue to appreciate hearing that our guest stars knew about our organization before we had even contacted them. Thanks to national media articles about The COLUMN Awards, the Dallas/Fort Worth Theatre community is acknowledged alongside Broadway’s contributions to BC/EFA. This motivates The Column Awards Board of Directors and me to continue to earn that respect.”

The COLUMN Award Board of Directors and Garcia would also like to announce that the 13th Annual COLUMN Awards Gala will be held on Monday February 27, 2012 at the Patty Granville Arts Center in Garland. This year the Board is honored to have the gala co-sponsored by the Garland Summer Musicals Guild.

“This comes full circle for this organization” stated Garcia (who founded The COLUMN Awards 13 years ago). “When I first created this event, the first person and organization to jump on board to support us and find a location to hold the gala was Patty Granville and the GSM Guild.” He went on to say, “I could write volumes about the incredible generosity, support and kindness that Ms. Granville has given our organization over the years. She is a rare gem that I treasure so very much both professionally and personally.”

Granville, the Garland Summer Musicals Founding Producer stated today, “The Garland Summer Musicals Guild is proud to co-sponsor The COLUMN Awards this year. It's exciting for the gala to return to Garland since this was where it all began. Congratulations to John Garcia and his dedicated Board of Directors for the outstanding work they do throughout the year to make The COLUMN Awards a magnificent Gala for the DFW theatre community.“

THE COLUMN Awards honors excellence in theatre within the entire Dallas/Fort Worth area. The organization honors both equity and non-equity theatre companies without regard to budget or venue size.

The lavish gala will begin with a cocktail reception at 7 p.m. and the ceremony starting at 8 p.m.. Special celebrity guest stars will be announced later this season. The Patty Granville Performing Arts Center is easily accessible via the DART system, with a station located right by the theatre complex.

More information regarding tickets, nominations, and everything about The COLUMN Awards can be found at their official website.
