Concert preview: Linda Eder at Winspear Opera House in Dallas (December 11)

Eder will be tackling holiday favorites along with some of her own new songs.

Any friend of Clay Aiken’s is a friend of ours. It’s true. We even have a bumper sticker that says so. (Right next to the one that says “Brakin’ for Aiken.”)

It’s because of our dear Clay baby that we first discovered the stunning beauty of Linda Eder’s voice in their duet of Roy Orbison’s “Crying.” Sure, we were about 23 years behind the rest of the world, but we’ve been making up for lost time ever since.

Discovered on Star Search back in 1987, Eder was destined for greatness. She quickly rose to stardom on the Broadway stage, followed by a recording career that defies strict classification. She’s just as adept at singing Broadway standards and contemporary pop as she is soulful jazz and root-tootin’ country.

Her voice is like an angel blowing whipped cream kisses.

Therefore, it should come as no surprise that she can sing a mean Christmas carol. And this Sunday, the songstress adds the Winspear Opera House to her short list of the world’s greatest performance venues in “The Linda Eder Holiday Show.” She’ll also be mixing in a few tunes from her latest album, Now, which reunites her with Broadway and pop composer Frank Wildhorn.

So grab your jingle-bell sweater and Santa hat and join us for an evening that guarantees to put you in the holiday spirit faster than Clay Aiken nipping at your nose.

WoW Linda Eder at Winspear Opera House was not one of Dallas's finest moments. The Folks at the Winspear could not have screwed this concert up any more had they tried. From missed lighting cues to a bad sound board The Winspear did everything they could to wreck this concert but Linda Eder Played on. When was the last time you went to a concert where the concert came to a screeching halt due to unprofessional sound guys! Even after stopping the concert they still couldn't get the mic for the acoustic guitar to work. AS if the Winspear doesn't have enough problems.
