Candidate for U.S. Senate Tom Leppert

Tom Leppert's campaign office reported on Tuesday that seven former Dallas Cowboys players have endorsed him in his run for U.S. Senate. Leppert left his position as Dallas mayor in February 2011 to pursue a Senate seat.

They endorsements came from: QBs Roger Staubach and Troy Aikman, safety Cliff Harris, fullback Daryl Johnston, linebackers Lee Roy Jordan and Bob Breunig, and defensive lineman Chad Hennings.

Many praised him for his work as Dallas mayor, saying his experience with the city will bode well in the Senate. "As a businessman, Tom went the extra mile and made the hard calls in order to grow companies and create jobs," said Aikman. "As mayor of Dallas, Tom helped turn around the city by making tough decisions that weren’t always popular. In the NFL we call that leadership, and it’s exactly what we need in Washington."

The election is November 6, 2012.
