ZestFest and chicken wings.

It's a big week for chile heads, with the return of the annual Zest Fest, plus some wings and things.

Thursday

In this week's chapter of Kalachandji's Indian Vegetarian Cooking Series, chef Manjuali Devi will cover Three Bean Soup, Panir Makhanwala (curd chunks in cream gravy), Yeast Puri (puffed bread), and Sesame Peanut Rice. Devi is teaching eight classes, from January 20 to March 10, for $150 or $25 per class, which includes dinner.

It's the return of the annual ZestFest 2011, where the attitude is, the hotter the better. Hosted by Chile Pepper Magazine and taking place at Irving's shiny new convention center, this three-day festival will have cooking demos by celebrity chefs, live music, interactive contests, and thousands of bold food samples.

Saturday

Russian Winter Festival will feature blinis and borscht, blinchik and blintzes, plus goluptsi, piroshki, and Hungarian meatballs -- Russian and Bohemian dishes of all kinds, from hors d’oeuvres to desserts, paired with vodka, French, and Russian wines.

Tuesday

Can you even really call the Wingstop World Wing-Eating Championship a "food" event? Technically yes, since competitors will be putting wings in their mouths.
