Bob’s Steak & Chop House to open at Omni Hotel in downtown Dallas
Steakhouse for new convention center hotel.
DALLAS A Bob's Steak & Chop House is opening in the new Omni Dallas Hotel at the Dallas Convention Center.
The website says that the restaurant will open in "November 2011." An employee at the hotel said that Bob's would open when the hotel opens, and that it would be one of several restaurants, including an eatery open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner called Texas Spice.
According to the website, Texas Spice "captures the true flavor of Texas with an emphasis on local ingredients and southern style offering a twist on hometown classics. The innovative farm-to-market concept incorporates using the freshest ingredients to create great food and a casual dining experience. A rustic interior designed with repurposed materials that include the red brick walls, garage door style doors and wood details. Whether dining in the main dining room, a private dining room or on the spacious outdoor patio every guest is sure to feel connected to the history of Dallas while enjoying the comfort of a home cooked meal."
Other restaurants listed on the hotel's Dining tab include:
The Owner's Box, a sports bar that's a "sports lover's dream" with "state-of-the-art features and the latest technology to include a 16 foot screen for viewing the game. The full-service bar and authentic menu is just the start to an amazing sports bar. Never miss the game again with private game watching tables that include sound isolating technology and interactive scheduling to fit your needs. Enjoy the big game from every angle on multiple LCD HDTV's, patio dining and oversized seating areas."
Uptown Terrace, a "premier outdoor venue" located on the 4th floor of the hotel, with views overlooking downtown Dallas, that offers "comfortable lounge seating, cabanas, a full-service bar, LCD HDTV's and fabulous food. Let the refreshing breeze carry you away as you relax around the built-in fire pit or find yourself mesmerized as the lights of the city reflect off the infinity pool at night. Sure to become a staple among local and first time guests visitor alike, the Uptown Terrace is the crown jewel of the hotel."
There are already four Bob's in the Dallas area: Lemmon Avenue, Plano, Fort Worth, and Grapevine. Del Frisco's just announced that it will open a smaller Del Frisco's Grille in Uptown Dallas. More steak in downtown Dallas includes DRG's Dallas Chop House and Charlie Palmer at the Joule.

If there are any improvement allowances, rent concessions, or other incentives for restaurants to jump in, I would be interested to know whether taxpayer dollars are being used.

We have a Bobs in Plano (have had for 10years+), no big deal, and defiantly not worth the hype. Haha, is this REALLY a news story?

The Bob's at Grapevine is also pretty mediocre. It would much more news worthy if it was Three Forks. Yum.

Hooray! More steak!!!!
huntertalley, this is a new restaurant opening in a new hotel, so I defiantly say this "REALLY" is a news story!
hfrenzen2 - true to a certain extent, but "the" Bob has nothing to do with these restaurants anymore, so I wouldn't feel bad for eating there (well, feel bad for the cows).

Omni Parent Company TRT Holding owns 50% of Bobs thats why its there, there is no special tax abatement or rent concessions. Its part of the agreement when omni was selected to manage the hotel for the taxpayers. This is the 4th Omni Hotel Bobs is in, including ft worth, Tuscon, San Francisco!!
