American Airlines and AT&T, both based in North Texas, listed as most hated companies

Hate is such a strong word.

It's easy to tick off the world's most admired companies -- we talk about them all the time. These are companies like Apple, FedEx, Google, General Electric. But even easier, perhaps, is to list off the companies you absolutely despise.

The Atlantic narrowed that list to the 19 most hated companies in America -- companies that they say don't seem to work to make customers happy. And two of those companies, as the Dallas Business Journal first spotted, are headquartered in North Texas.

Making the list at No. 8 is American Airlines, based in Fort Worth. "Common complaints include baggage fees and service cutbacks, as with most airlines," says the article. And AA is not alone: Delta, US Airways, and United Airlines were even more hated than American. Noticeably missing from the list is Southwest Airlines, based in Dallas, which boasts no fees for the first and second checked bags.

The No. 14 most hated business is AT&T, based in Dallas. If you have ever had to call AT&T or visit a store, you most likely agree with their inclusion on this list. In fact, I would have placed them much higher.

Interesting (and non-local) additions to the "most hated" list are MySpace and Facebook, listed at Nos. 9 and 10, respectively.
