Dallas company’s animal rescue awareness greeting cards go national
An independent subsidiary of Hallmark is distributing the popular cards.
Joe Grisham and Janet Healey have always been committed to raising awareness about local animal rescue and animal welfare. That commitment got a big boost Friday when Sunrise Greetings, a wholly owned, independent subsidiary of Hallmark, the largest greeting card company in the world, announced an agreement for development and distribution of the popular “Hooray for the Underdog” line of greeting cards.
Many local rescuers are already familiar with the husband and wife team of HealyGrisham, who frequently volunteer their talents to various animal rescue groups as well as the SPCA of Texas, Dallas Animal Services, and Metroplex Animal Coaltion. HealyGrisham created the eye-catching graphics (shown above hanging from the side of their downtown Dallas studio) for Dallas Animal Advocates' 2008 campaign to promote responsible pet ownership.
The "Hooray for the Underdog” line includes greeting cards for holidays, birthdays, and special occasions as well as cards with a variety of special sentiments – thank you, sympathy, encouragement, and love. Each card features a portrait of a rescue or shelter animal on the front and a detailed profile on the back, that includes the pet’s name, the details of its rescue (“Emaciated mother and puppies pulled off the street and nursed back to health by local rescue organization.”), and special powers (“Exceptionally patient and very clever at finding his way up into your lap before you even realize he’s there.”). The cards were featured as one of Oprah’s “Gifts that Give Back” in 2008 and 2009, and are now available in pet supply stores, bookstores, office supply stores, and greeting card stores.
