Video: Why Gov. Rick Perry’s campaign ads are effective

No one can argue the fact that Rick Perry is a strong campaigner.

As Gov. Rick Perry mulls the possibility of entering the GOP presidential primary, the Tribune takes a look at how he has crafted his image in a series of campaign ads through the years. Perry leaves stuff out. Just like the time he mentioned that Texas aught to secede from the union.... "There's a lot of different scenarios," Perry said. "We've got a great union. There's absolutely no reason to dissolve it. But if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, you know, who knows what might come out of that. But Texas is a very unique place, and we're a pretty independent lot to boot." Perry, quoted by the Austin American Statesman, April 2009
