Photo gallery: Miniature Dallas skyline made of LEGOs on view in Dallas in July, August
This isn't just kid stuff; these are intricate pieces of art.
DALLAS Opening July 30, a miniature version of Dallas' skyline will be on display at the Dallas Museum of Nature & Science. Dallas CityScape, as it's called, is made entirely of LEGOs and took about eight months to build. The newest structure in the collection is a teeny replica of the not-yet-finished Perot Museum of Nature & Science, and it took about two months to build on its own.
Fourteen North Texas landmarks are part of the special exhibit, and it took 15 people to construct them -- that includes volunteers, robotics technicians, and light installers. The LEGO structures will be on display from July 30 until August 28. After that, they will get loaded into five 20-foot trucks and put in storage in Oklahoma City, where they will rest peacefully until next year's debut.
You may remember that LEGO-inspired architecture has also been done at LEGOLAND, a new attraction at Grapevine Mills. The exhibit at the Museum of Nature & Science has no affiliation with LEGOLAND.
From the photos above, our favorite is the Old Red Museum. What's yours?
