Guy Harvey’s Grill in Fairview closed for nonpayment of rent

Sign posted outside the restaurant indicates lockout.

Falling like a domino behind its abruptly-shuttered siblings Wyland's Ocean Blue, Guy Harvey's Grill at the Village at Fairview was shut down on Tuesday for nonpayment of rent.

The Fairview branch still shows up on the locations page. An employee at the original Guy Harvey's in Marco Island, Florida said that some branches had changed their names, but then quickly said she was new and didn't know anything about the new names.

A representative from MGHerring Group confirmed that the restaurant had been shut down but would offer no other comment.

cookingfresh, anonymous:

a 144,000 isn't that a gross?

Teresa Gubbins, staff:

looks like there was nonpayment of rent going on for a very long time

lisaltx, anonymous:

Most commercial landlords wait as long as they possibly can to lock someone out. I would guess at least 6 months.

As someone who worked for this company, not surprised.

Rumor is that the Wylands Ocean Blue in Austin is no longer owned by Pete McFarland. Is this true, Teresa?

Chrisv_Moore, anonymous:

It's amazing how this restaurant survived for this long. Especially since you have an owner who tells you to "figure it out" when problems arise. What he doesn't understand is it's going to take time for a new concept restaurant to make it. Not going to happen over time. It's no surprise that they were always out of food and alcohol knowing that the owner was so greedy with his money. This deserves a "C'mon Man!" I feel sorry for all the employees who put up with all the garbage for so long. I hope they get there tips and paychecks. Rumor has it some of them haven't been paid for weeks. It's a sad situation.

I think it is a sad situation all together. Some people worked very hard and went the extra mile to make this restaurant work. Employees not getting paid is just wrong no matter if 50 dollars is owed or 50 cents! Like Chris says, it IS amazing how it survived for so long. I, as a former employee, am glad I quit when I did. I was so hard on myself too, thinking that it might have just been my problem, and that I should have "hung in there". Although I am sorry for the people most directly affected by the situation, I am relieved to have it behind me.

pc7741, anonymous:

Oh yes, and of course I am also happy for the people who are relieved to have it behind them as well.

its becoming quite a common occurance around the metroplex. Sad to see.

What do you think?
