20-year-old Plano man arrested on suspicion of murder


A 50-year-old man was found dead on Friday. A woman with a gunshot wound is in critical condition.

— Plano police arrested a 20-year-old Hispanic male from Plano on suspicion of murder and aggravated assault. Police say an update won't be available until Monday, June 20. Here's what we know:

On June 17, 2011 at approximately 6:00 p.m., Plano Police Officers responded to a Shooting in the 800 block of 19th Street.

Upon Officers arrival, two victims were found at the scene. One of the victims, a Hispanic male, was found deceased. The second victim, a Hispanic female, was found with a gunshot wound and was transported to a local-area hospital. She is in critical condition at this time.

The deceased has been identified as Ismaell Torres, a 50-year old Hispanic male from Plano, TX.

On June 18, 2011, Plano Police Officers arrested Edgar Alberto Romo, a 20-year old Hispanic male from Plano, TX.

The suspect has been charged with Murder and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and is being held on a $1,000,000 bond amount (combined total) in the Collin County Detention Center. A jail photo of the suspect is attached to this release.

The victims and the suspect in this incident are known to each other.

This investigation is currently on-going.
