Bolsa’s regulars celebrated one of their own on Saturday night, as Eddie “Lucky” Campbell mixed cocktails at the popular Oak Cliff restaurant for the last time. Campbell and co-celebrity cocktail guru Michael Martensen are partnering to open a "world-class watering hole" in the 1400 block of Main Street in downtown Dallas.

With owner Chris Zielke’s blessing, long time friend and patron Mike T. brought in a cake and a ukulele-playing duo that strummed until guests were content at Saturday night's send-off party at Bolsa. Drinks and stories from Campbell flowed until the very early hours. Campbell thanked the owner and Bolsa regulars for his two years spent mixing cocktails there, which he called "two of the best years of my life."

Campbell and Martensen have not finalized a name for their new bar, but the renovations on the space are well underway, replacing the former Dr. Bell’s BBQ.

"Our world-class bar will serve ice made of imported water from Scotland [with] whiskey and premium liquors,” Campbell said -- which serious drinkers should be able to appreciate.

I like the kind of bars in which the barkeep can make all the great classical drinks; but isn't the celebrity in the room.

The bar at the old Sherry Netherland, and the now closed La Carravelle were fantastic water holes with respected bartenders who knew how to take very good care of each customer, and wasn't the center of the universe.

Great time and thanks to Lucky and all the Bolsa staff for always making Bolsa a great place to go to.

Lucky was the best at surprising you with the exact drink you didn't know you wanted...you will be missed!

What do you think?
