UPDATEDx2: Former American Idol contestant Tim Halperin gives away free song
FORT WORTH Tim Halperin, the American Idol contestant from Fort Worth who is no longer on the show, announced on Kidd Kraddick in the Morning today that he's releasing a new song. The 23-year-old piano player is technically still under contract with American Idol and isn't allowed to release a new record. But what he can do is give songs away for free.
The new song is called "The Last Song," and you can download it here. (They will ask you for your email address and zip code in exchange for the free song.) The song is about heartbreak; it's the "last song" that Halperin is writing for a certain love. It makes us wonder, Who's the woman who broke this sweet man's heart? And did she know he was going to be on national television?
Halperin also revealed on the radio show that he performed "You Found Me" by The Fray on American Idol, but it never made the final cut. Kraddick played a clip of the song, and afterward radio host Kellie Rasberry said, "I'll dare to say Tim's [version] was better."
UPDATE: Halperin wants to know where he should go on an upcoming tour. See his survey here, and chime in if you've got an opinion! None of the locations are in Texas.
UPDATE x2: Halperin announced at his show on Sunday at the Deep Ellum Arts Festival that he's going to sit in on Kidd Kraddick in the Morning every Thursday and re-do one of the songs performed on American Idol the night before. Halperin seemed confident that he'd be able to do the song better than the performer on Idol. Kraddick will let radio listeners to vote on who did the song justice.
