La Carreta Argentina restaurant in Oak Cliff for sale for $50K

Restaurant is noted for its fine house-made empanadas.

— The owners of Lacarreta Argentina, the Argentinian restaurant in Dallas' Oak Cliff neighborhood which only recently moved to nice new digs on Beckley Avenue, would like to sell. They want to devote more time to their family, and have posted a craigslist ad offering the place for $50,000:

Great opportunity for a family or a restaurateur to purchase a nice Argentinean restaurant that is inexpensive and ready to go so that you can begin to work for yourself. ALSO THIS IS THE ONLY ONE ARGENTINEAN RESTAURANT IN DALLAS, IS UNIQUE. This facility can be converted into many other types of restaurant or food facilities. It has a fully new equipped kitchen area with lots of kitchen equipment & it is ready for a Buyer to move forward and release their creative vision with this great restaurant. Also it has a big patio w/ a beautiful view of downtown Dallas. This restaurant is in a great location. The Methodist Hospital is only at one block w/ 3000 employees, and clinics (good lunch). Also there is a project to become about a tourist train that is going to be ready in 1 1/2 year just in front of the restaurant which it make this location has a great potential. This restaurant is well known in the neighborhood and has a great reputation. Catering has been a part of this business for many years and it’s very popular to the local residence and businesses. I sale it because I have two beautiful daughters 5 and 7 years old, and they need me at home.

runDMC, anonymous:

I feel bad that this place didn't make it. I enjoyed the weekend outdoor grill deal. Interior might have been just a touch downscale for the cuisine/neighborhood. Maybe Uygur can open a "commissary" as an outlet for his leftovers and failed experiments, if any. I hear commissaries are the new thing.

Teresa Gubbins, staff:

runDMC, i just ate at the Commissary for lunch yesterday. excellent salad with heaps of arugula

SitizenKane, anonymous:

Were their steaks actually from Argentina? I hear it is the best beef in the world...better than Kobe, according to my sources.

Teresa Gubbins, staff:

SitizenKane, never had the steaks. given the choice of a steak or a handmade empanada, i will always choose the handmade empanada

SitizenKane, anonymous:

hate to see these type of places fold while the corporate chains (places like ....) flourish.

Steven Doyle, verified:

The empanadas at this place are worth 50k just to find out how to make them.

What do you think?
