We asked Dallas-Fort Worth leaders: What are you thankful for?
Despite economic troubles, DFW celebrities have plenty of appreciation.
During Thanksgiving dinner, do you take a moment to go around the table and say what you're thankful for this year? We asked some Dallas-Fort Worth movers-and-shakers what about their jobs have filled them with gratitude in 2011.
Ron Washington, manager for the Texas Rangers: "I am very thankful for the support of my players, coaching staff, and especially our very loyal fans. The Rangers are blessed to have a family-type atmosphere in our organization. I am also thankful for the good health of our team and for the very successful 2011 season we enjoyed."
Mike Rawlings, mayor of Dallas: "I am grateful for the opportunity to lead a great team of over 12,000 city of Dallas employees who serve our citizens every day -- each are a vital component to our organization and making Dallas the best city in America."
Betty Buckley, actress and singer: "It is such a privilege being a singer. That people come to hear my band and I create music is such a gift. I am most grateful for music and horses and my animals, and friends and loved ones who support all that I am able to do."
Tom Leppert, former mayor of Dallas and current candidate for U.S. Senate: "I'm thankful for the hard-working small business owners all across Texas, whose dedication, vision, and entrepreneurship give us hope and optimism during these tough economic times."
Betsy Price, mayor of Fort Worth: "We have a lot to be thankful for in Fort Worth. As mayor, I’m most thankful for my family and the people of Fort Worth who make our city great. I’m thankful for my passionate and dedicated City Council colleagues, I’m thankful for the city employees who work so hard for our citizens, and I’m thankful for those generous and courageous corporate and non-profit partners who continue to give back to their community."
Tara Harper, cast member in reality TV show Most Eligible Dallas and VP of Sales for Dallas company SPI, Inc.: "I am thankful for the hard work and dedication of my employees. Without their continued commitment and hard work we wouldn't have achieved the successful year we had this year."
